Imagine everything you love about a bacon cheeseburger—savory beef, gooey cheese, smoky bacon—all packed inside a golden, crispy tater tot cone. This recipe is pure comfort food magic and guaranteed to steal the show at game nights, cookouts, or anytime you want something a little outrageous.
Ingredients
For the Tater Tot Cones:
-
1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
-
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for binding)
-
Nonstick cooking spray
For the Cheeseburger Filling:
-
1 lb ground beef (80/20 works best)
-
1 small onion, finely diced
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
-
1 tsp smoked paprika
-
Salt & black pepper, to taste
-
1 cup shredded cheddar (or American cheese, cubed)
For the Toppings:
-
6–8 slices crispy bacon, chopped
-
Shredded lettuce
-
Diced tomato
-
Pickle slices
-
Burger sauce (or ketchup, mustard, mayo combo)
Instructions
1. Make the Cones
-
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
-
Line a cone mold (metal cone baking molds or rolled heavy-duty foil into a cone shape) with parchment and spray with nonstick spray.
-
Arrange tater tots around the mold, slightly overlapping, pressing gently so they stick together.
-
Sprinkle a little shredded cheese between layers to help them “glue” as they bake.
-
Bake 20–25 minutes until golden and crispy. Let cool slightly before carefully sliding the cone off the mold.
2. Cook the Cheeseburger Filling
-
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
-
In the same pan, brown the ground beef with onion and garlic until no pink remains.
-
Stir in Worcestershire, paprika, salt, and pepper.
-
Reduce heat, mix in the shredded cheese (or melt in cheese cubes) until creamy and gooey.
3. Assemble the Cones
-
Hold your tater tot cone upright (use a glass or foil wrap to stabilize).
-
Spoon the cheesy beef filling inside until full.
-
Top with bacon crumbles, lettuce, tomato, and pickles.
-
Drizzle with burger sauce.
Tips & Variations
-
Cheese lovers: Layer in melted Velveeta or nacho cheese sauce instead of shredded cheese for extra ooze.
-
Spicy kick: Add diced jalapeños or a drizzle of sriracha mayo on top.
-
Mini version: Use muffin tins lined with tots to make “burger tot cups.”
🔥 These stuffed cones are best served hot, eaten with your hands like a street snack—but don’t forget extra napkins.
